Dog Tricks

We saw this commercial for Stanley Steamer on TV last night and thought it was really funny. Probably because we have a yellow dog that does the same thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOtqw_IEGh0

Sheers

Image
I think the sheers look great, Mum! Thank you for sewing that awful material for me! They came in the mail yesterday. The outfits are cute, too. Still no baby. I keep hoping God will allow me to have her a bit early. Now, we are within 2 weeks of the due date.

We stained and put the cradle back together now. I had trouble finding sheets to put on the mattress , though. Bassinet sheets were too small. Playard and crib sheets are too big, of course. Right now I have a soft cover from the changing pad on it. It mostly fits.

Lilly

Image
Lilly (Lillian Grace Buckles) was born just after midnight yesterday morning (the 21st) - which is also Jen & Jimmy's anniversary! She was 8 lbs. 3 oz. and 20 inches long. Happy Anniversary and congratulations to the Buckles family!

Mariners-Pirates Game

Image
After 4 1/2 years of living here, the Pirates finally made the trip to Seattle. So, we decided to take advantage and go to the game last night. The Pirates lost 3-0. This was taken from the new park by the ferry terminal in Bremerton. Here, you can see the small ferry heading over to Port Orchard. In the background is the big ferry coming in, that we took to Seattle. The Seattle skyline view from the ferry Qwest Field and Safeco Field behind some of the shipping terminals Jesse and Lindsay at the game - I managed to still wear my Pirates shirt! Ichiro Suzuki at bat. I liked this picture because he has a nice swing and you can see the ball after he hit it. It was just a short pop fly, though.

Crib set-up

Image
We set up the crib yesterday and today I put in the sheets and things. It looks really cute! As you can see, the room is really crowded. I did not want to take our spare bed down, so I rearranged to make things mostly work.

37 weeks

Here is a video from yesterday. I am 37 weeks along right now.

PE "Baby Shower"

This evening, the Peninsula School District PE teachers got together at the Tides Restaurant in Gig Harbor for a mini baby shower for me. They all chipped in together to buy us a baby jogging stroller. That will be really nice to use! We've definitely been very fortunate to have many supportive and generous friends, family, and colleagues.

Church Baby Shower

Image
Tonight was the church baby shower, hosted by Sarah. Sarah's mom, Kim, and grandma, Dee, drove over from Idaho to help with the shower. They did a brilliant job preparing delicious food. And, there was a lot of food! We were showered with a lot of wonderful gifts, including some cute outfits, blankets, diapers, toddler car seat, tummy floor mat, and more. Kayli with Grandma Kim and Great-Grandma Dee looking on. Here are some handmade items that I received this evening. The green/blue blanket was made by Lori. Michelle made the dark purple chenille blanket. And, Sarah's grandma made the white sweater.

Pillows

Image
Mum gave me her "old" bed quilt. (I don't like to buy new ones since Meg lays on it all day anyway) When she was out here a few weeks ago, she made the curtains for me. Today, I finally made the pillows for on the bed. I only made one major cutting mistake, but managed to cover it up pretty well. They will be useful for my recent sleeping adjustments. The room darkening window blind works well, too. Now, we are just waiting for the sheers (which Mum is going to make for me since I hated the sheers fabric the last time I made them). Good luck Mum!

New Blazer tires, new porch flooring

Image
Jesse bought some new wheels (and tires) for the Blazer to replace the huge 20" wheels that were on it when we bought it. He also installed the headlights that used to be on the S-10. The huge wheels The new wheels. Much better, huh? Jesse also put on our new porch floor cedar boards. We discovered that the builder of the porch did not put any supports underneath it. Some of the boards were pulling apart. I'm glad it didn't ever fall down! These boards replaced boards that we had stained (and the stain peeled off and mold grew underneath = slippery, even though cleaned). After that, I sanded, primed, and used porch paint on the same boards (and it peeled off, too, and that was only 5 months ago). These new boards were waterproof stained to match the cedar shake siding. So, hopefully we won't have the same problem with these boards!

Victoria, British Columbia

Image
Yesterday, Jesse and I traveled on the Victoria Express Passenger Ferry out of Port Angeles, WA, to Victoria, BC. The ferry ride was about an hour long. It was a beautiful, warm day to enjoy the outdoors. This is the British Columbia Parliament Building in Victoria's Harbor. Upon arrival in Victoria, we took the city bus to Butchart Gardens, just north of the city. This is the Sunken Garden. Mrs. Butchart drained and filled in this former limestone quarry to create the garden. She planted the poplar trees to hide the cement factory. You can still see the smokestack. In the middle of the Sunken Garden, a big rock was left because it was inferior limestone. We are standing on top of it for this picture. I have tried to upload a video from our camera. It is not a very high resolution video, so you will want to view it at a smaller size. Hopefully it works. The video shows one of the beautiful Rhododendron garden areas. http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=5129479682056370...
