Golf Tournament

Image
Last Saturday, the family held a golf tournament in honor of my late Uncle Korie. Some of my family members worked really hard to pull off this fundraiser event.  It was really fun to work along side my friends, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Brady and Dad were in charge of the bag drop. The guests of honor The check in table I was positioned at hole #10, which was the "Beat the Nephew" hole.  It was a gamble, but the goal was to beat my cousin, Deron, and hit the ball closer to the hole than he did. Everyone got in on some of the fun. Some of my cousins watching My brother and his friends played. It was great to spend the day with Deron. Dad and Brady had to measure a few times to see who was closer.  One guy beat Deron by getting a hole in one! I recruited Natalee (and her hurt hand) to help me take pictures of each group of golfers.  Brandy took the money for the hole.   Jesse and Amie came to the tournament later in the day.  Amie had a soccer game and her...

March Catch Up

Image
Brady made some neat modular origami After a snow delay, our girls junior high basketball team finally had our basketball banquet We were involved in a lot of tournaments this month.  First, Natalee competed with her basketball team at the March Madness Tournament in Lewisburg.  Of course, the day of the tournament, it had to snow and cause some bad road conditions!  With the blowing afterward, I was glad we were staying there for the night. The team in Lewisburg Brady had the day off school the day before his birthday.  He decided he wanted to try to replicate the cake Cousin J had in Colorado last summer (the Agnes Cake).  I warned him that it would be a lot of steps and it would involve cooking icing, making meringue, and cooking the ganache.  He was not deterred! This is an intricate process.   Ta da! Happy 13th birthday to Brady.  For some reason, nearly all of the birthday cards Brady received involved flatulence.  I have not idea why :...

January/February Catch Up

Image
Yes, it's the end of March, but I thought I should show a few highlights of January and February.  Between church activities, basketball teams, Boy Scouts, jazz band, and work... there was a lot to do. Amie sledding with friends Our washer suddenly became extremely loud. It was probably a bearing in it. It seemed more economical to get a new washer. Brady and Jesse ran with me in the SnowFest 5-miler at Greenwood Furnace State Park.  It was very cold this day.  When the race began at mid-day, it was 18 degrees.  Even though the whole trail was snow covered, we finished 18-19-20 (shortest to tallest) After we finished the race, we went to the lake to watch my cousin's wife participate in the Polar Bear Plunge. Brady went rabbit hunting with his Pap We tried to go sledding with the runner sleds on the mountain road.  It was too sticky, so we did not go very fast. Amie played for the Little Cats basketball team this winter.

Junior High Girls Basketball

Image
Natalee decided to try basketball this year.  She's still not entirely sure about it.  But, I'm loving it.  It is keeping us quite busy with her schedule, Brady's Boy Scouts, and Amie's Little Cats basketball.  Plus, Amie is in Lego League and Brady recently joined Jazz Band. Yours truly is a volunteer coach.    Last evening, we had a game at Tyrone.  A co-worker of Jesse's takes a lot of pictures of Tyrone sports.  He shared some of the following with us. Natalee had a nice box out on this play.

Pittsburgh Steelers Game

Image
This was the first Pittsburgh Steelers game that I have ever attended in Pittsburgh.  While living in the Puget Sound area, Jesse and I went to a Steelers game in Seattle.  It was amazing how many Terrible Towels flew in Seattle. One other time, I went on a bus trip with my dad's side of the family to Baltimore.  I think we all have fond memories of that trip. Dad asked us several months ago if we would be interested in a Steelers game.  It was at 1 o'clock in the afternoon in December.  I thought, "December?  Won't that be really cold?  Oh well, at least it's in the afternoon and the sun might warm us up."  Sure, I'll go!  Brady and Jesse signed up to go, too. A few weeks ago, we were alerted that the Steelers-Chargers game was moved to 8:20pm.  8:20!!  We asked Brady if he still wanted to go.  He was still going to have to go to school because our schedules were packed, too.  Brady still wanted to go.  Unfortuna...
