Enjoying the Park On a Warm Winter Day

Image
To enjoy our warm break from winters wrath, we spent a morning at the park.  It was such a treat.  We were there for 2 1/2 hours, but it only seemed like 10!  We also ate a picnic lunch even though they still had the tables stored for the winter.  Natalee was peeking out of the tunnel.  She wore her hat and coat for about 2 more minutes after this-- it reached 65 degrees this day!       Brady riding the motorcycle with Will. Natalee slid down the tube slide!  Oh, the power of peer influence. Brady LOVES the "twisty slide" We took our bikes along.  Brady (and I) were not fast enough to keep up. Brady watching them bike around the track.

Mtn Road Sledding

Image
We went sledding on Allensville Mountain Road this past Saturday.  Everyone involved had a lot of fun-- grown-ups, kids and dogs! At first, we just went down a smaller section of the road.  Don't worry, though, we still went zipping along!  This was a little safer to do with the kids, especially Brady.  Later on, I did take Natalee further on up the mountain with me.  She laid down on top of me to ride down.  After I took her down, she told me she did not want to do that again!  I think I kind of scared her going around the one turn. Natalee and me Meg got a lot of exercise today, chasing us down the mountain road.  Here she is barreling after our sled!  She was extremely tired after we were done. Pap and Brady Todd and Kate came a little later.  They crashed on their first run down the hill! Meg and Zen running Natalee got a convenient lift up the hill. By this point, Brady was too cold to enjoy sleddin...

Princess Natalee

Image
Natalee got some princess dresses in the mail from Grandma and Grandpa.  You can tell by the smile on her face what she thought of it!  She was completely thrilled.  When I put it on her, she announced, "Ta-da!  I am Princess Natalee!!!"   Ever since we dressed up with Lilly, she has wanted to go back to Lilly's house to dress up again. Dress #1 Dress #2 Brady did not want to be left out of the pictures.  He is not in a princess dress-- YET.  That came later!

Valentine Cookies

Image
Today we made some sugar cookies.  We cut them into hearts and decorated them for Valentines Day.  This activity is right up Natalee's alley, of course.  She was really looking forward to it.  Of course, I was DREADING all of the mess.  It was worth it, though. We used paint brushes to put a glaze on the cookies before we sprinkled on the decorations and stuck on M&M's. ICING!!!  (Hmm...Do you think Mom will notice if I sneak a taste of this stuff?) I noticed today that Brady came a long way since we did this activity at Christmas time.  He has obviously been watching me mix things up in the kitchen (and pretending to do so with Natalee).  He dumped A LOT of red sprinkles into his cup of glaze icing while I wasn't looking.  That turned into a messy goop!  Then, he kept dumping in M&M's despite my pleas to stop that.  I fished them out and stuck them to one of his cookies.  So, two of his cookies are red-c...

Bird Feeder

Image
A few weeks ago, I decided to try putting bird food in the feeder again.  Last time I tried this, squirrels knocked it all out.  However, it seems to be eaten by at least a few birds this time.  A few mornings ago, Natalee yelled, "Mom!  There's a robin at the bird feeder!"  She actually meant a cardinal. It was cute to see them looking out the window at it. .

Pictures that made me smile :)

Image
I thought I should share a few pictures from this past week.  I was just looking through the pictures from my camera from last week.  A few of them just made me smile.  (A lot of pictures make me smile, so this is not odd) At the Penn State basketball game this past Sunday. Story time at the Library After the Library story time comes craft time.  Brady found scissors while I wasn't paying attention-- YIKES! I love their imagination.  They were taking their dogs to the beach.  Yep, with cowboy boots on!

Natalee and the Credit Card

Image
A few weekends ago when we were at the PSU women's basketball game, Natalee was shown up on the big screen in the middle of the arena.  The lady that sits in front of us took this picture and shared it with me.  During every game, they have a time when people who have the Penn State Alumni Association credit card can hold up their credit cards to win a prize.  My mom has a credit card through them, so Natalee wanted to hold up the card.  I know, not exactly what a 3 year old should have in their hands!!!  Unfortunately, she did not win :(
