Pennsylvania Grand Canyon (Pine Creek Rail Trail)

Image
Last month we went to the real Grand Canyon and this month we went to Pennsylvania's Grand Canyon.  Saturday was the perfect day weather wise.  We spent the day driving to Ansonia (near Wellsboro) and riding bike on the Pine Creek Rail Trail.  We started at the Marsh Creek Access Point.  Pine Creek Outfitters drove our truck 19 miles down the trail to Blackwell.  Then, we didn't have to backtrack and we could complete the whole section.  It was well worth it! It really was beautiful.  It looks nothing like the real Grand Canyon, though.  There's lots of greenery in Pennsylvania! As we went along the 17/19 miles of trail, there were a lot waterfalls and runs to stop and explore.  These next two waterfalls were along the Turkey Path at Leonard Harrison State Park.  They were the biggest and prettiest waterfalls that we saw.  We stopped for a picnic at Tiadaghton Campground, which was about the half way point. Tuesday's Rain

Image
While at Natalee's piano lessons last Tuesday, it was hailing and raining really hard.  By the time lessons were over, the storm was mostly over.  On the drive home, I noticed that it didn't really rain very much in town.  Then my neighbor sent me a picture of what was happening at my house: It looks like Sioux Falls, South Dakota!  We do have a drain that goes under the driveway.  It just rained too much too quickly.  I've never seen it go over the edge by the swing before.  Now you can see why it was going over the driveway: The drain that comes from across the street by the apple tree looked like a geyser.  It was shooting water up into the air several feet.  My neighbor said that she hasn't ever seen it rain as hard as it did.  I heard reports that we recieved more than 1 inch of rain in 20 minutes. Even though it was not warm, the girls were begging to go splash around in the receding water.  It ended in full body mud...
