Rocky Ridge, part 3

Image
Happy Mothers Day! On this mothers day, the weather was beautiful.  I thought it would be nice to be outside.  On the way home from church I asked the kids, "Where should we invite Gram and Pap to go-- the Peace Chapel area or Rocky Ridge?"  The overwhelming answer was yelled.  "Rocky Ridge!"  Brady excited called them to make the invite as soon as we got home. So, we spent a lovely afternoon at Rocky Ridge (again).  I doubt it will get old for the children.  They love it that much! Gram with her girls. The mountain azalea were blooming.  There were so many nooks and crannies to explore and show Gram and Pap.  Every time we go up here, Amie gets braver and braver.  And, she's determined to do more climbing by herself. "Follow me Gram!"  The Dogwood trees were in full bloom as well.  Overall there was a lot more green out on the trees on this trip. I was excited to find a Yellow Lad...

Stone Mountain Hawk Watch

The weather cleared off yesterday, so we walked out to the Stone Valley Hawk Watch.  This trail is much improved from when we hiked it about 5 years ago.  It is no longer such a rock scramble and is more of a path make of stepping stones.  It was a lot easier! Big Valley (That's Kishacoquillas Valley for you, Colleen :) The Stone Valley side  We did not see any raptors.  Then, we took the short walk back over the rocks.  Next, we headed to camp for our first camp campfire of the year.  The first mountain pies of the year always taste SO GOOD! The watermelon was tasty, too!  But Amie did not enjoy the hair combing that ensued afterward. Gram, Pap and their grandkids
